THE THEATRE OF ROCOKÓZ

The group emerges in 1998 with the aim of developing the Humor language, especially the clown. Since then, it builds up a repertoire of theater performances and interventions from a constant research on the theater of intervention, in which actor and spectator (as a rule, passerby) share the "responsibility" on the scenic setting. It was this option that naturally led repertoire and performance of this theater group for which termed "street theater" - but that in our case, extends to the understanding of outdoor, alternative or unconventional spaces.

Hence, SESC/SP, CumminsLatin-America, municipal governments such as São Paulo, Santo Andre, São Bernardo do Campo and São Caetano do Sul, among others, are the institutions that know our job.

In the corporate theater training there are the Center for Realistic Simulations of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Arte Musical Produções and Usina do Pensamento. In the sphere of convalescence and retreat humane environments, our project "Laughtherapy" has been enjoyed since 1996 by public and private hospitals, inside and outside São Paulo city.

Finally, Theatre Rocokóz through its core founder, is also active in theater pedagogy, with courses, workshops and experiences of Theatre, Clown and Circus, as well as guidance for formed groups, such as the recent group of Actors in Metamorphoses in Tangara da Serra/ MT, the community of União da Juta (VAI program of DEC / Municipal Culture SP) and FEBEM Abaeté Unit, and also continuing to do research at the Center for Theatre Pedagogy at the Escola Livre de Teatro de Santo André. Since 2003 at its headquarters, it develops frequent editions of its "Retreat Clown" and, since 2009 it has been developing, with funding from FEMA Fundo Especial do Meio Ambiente, the project "Environmental Circus Theatre Headwaters Monos" in São Paulo.

A Clownlistic Variety Show

Brief History

The group debuts in 1999, written, produced and directed by Carlos and Ciléia Biaggioli (professional actors and clowns), the core founder, aiming to run the school network, corporate and social events and in Italian stage, sporadically.

Since 2002, this movement also includes the Network SESC-SP and in mid 2006, the show was remounted to happen in and around of a stylized cart in the mold of those in which the roving artists cruised the Old Medieval World.

In 2007, curated by the teacher and researcher Narciso Telles, "A Clownlistic Variety Show" the group was invited to join the National Meeting of Street Theatre in Angra dos Reis (RJ) - which marked the arrival of the eldest daughter of the couple, following the inspiration received by Carroça de Mamulengos, a northeastern Brazilian group which focuses a theatricality grounded in family relationship, as has occurred with the medieval family, which in the end, gave the main motto of this show reassembly.

From 2007 onwards, it was also presented to the Cult Circuit Programme, in both Departments of Culture of São Bernardo do Campo, and São Caetano do Sul, in the ABC region.

It was also part of the first three editions of "Overdose of Street Theater, organized by the Movement of Street Theatre of São Paulo and also in 2007, the Lino Rojas Street Theater Exhibition, a realization of MTR / SP and Department of Cultural Expansion of the Municipal Culture of São Paulo and the Teatro Municipal de Araras, within the movement promoted by the São Paulo Interior Ministry of Culture. In 2008 the group was invited to the Exhibition of the Free School of Drama Theatre (Teatro Conchita de Moraes), in Santo André, which marked the entrance of the middle child and the youngest son in the show.

In 2009, the show opened the first season of the "Six in the Sé", the São Paulo Metropolitan Transport Company (Metro), and in 2010 the group was invited to participate in the Exhibition Theatre in the Parks (a partnership bettwen the companies Oi, Globo and also the Cooperativa Paulista de Teatro) and the 12th Mostra SESC Cariri of Culture, in four cities in the vicinity of Juazeiro do Norte (CE).

Synopsis of the Show

A wagon of roving artists come into view in the middle of the square, carrying this family of itinerant artists: Delfino and Atadolfa with their children Agripina, Lolys de Lolys and Diolindo Porcento (12, 9 and 6 years old respectively), the ones who must, along with their parents, prepare and enchant the audience around them, with the delicious "Clownlistic Variety Show" - a comedy variety show, where the whole family play freely and sings with true "pearls of the most refined barefaced people": The Terrible Wild Beast! The Wizard of the Eternal Silence! Cleopatra: The Juggler of the Nile and his Uncontrollable Serpent! And the special participation of the audience in: Acrobat Anonymous! In Grand finale: An incredible Highest Risk Number!

OBJECTIVE

Encourage the passersby and regulars of public places (such as squares, parks and recreation areas in general) the opportunity to see these sites resized within a theatrical perspective, focusing on popular culture, comic, through a show that creates the atmosphere that can be related to that in which, since ancient times, the families of roving artists used to live, produced and presented, while aggregates and shares with them the responsibility for conducting the proposed plot.

Grounds

Since ancient times, through the Middle Ages, until the present day, the existence Families of rhapsodies, minstrel, acrobats, and circus clowns of all kinds is known, whose social function has always been at the Art practice and, in this sense, the creative power - in which the ability to improvise and the constant relationship with the audience has always been of fundamental importance - for creating, maintaining and entertaining their audience.

This was the reality until less than three centuries ago, what means not that long, the theater inserted in the public sphere, serving as a corner for the most disparate ways of seeing life, with the aim to charm, entertain, create a "parallel reality" that can, at the end of all accounts, via drama, tragedy or comedy, do ordinary citizens to perceive themselves, and from that, perhaps, to rethink their own concepts. From what is observed in past five years, this situation happens again in the present days...

How to keep the public (passerby) charmed during most of the time? Will things that happens actually be "improvisation" or it comes to be so precisely because, as alchemists, these artists have already gained the ability to withdraw their wildcard under the sleeve and manipulate them so quickly within the specifics required for each moment, during the show, which ends up looking something made up at that very precise moment?

This is the main focus of "A Clownlistic Variety Show" such as the reality of those old days, in addition to the soundtrack composed especially for the part and live performed by the family tries not to label any restriction age once we consider that the street is a place for everyone and, thus, the show should be conceived so as to communicate with people of all ages.

These artists and their families lived from and for this. And this is precisely the focus of the Rocokóz Theatre work (see brief history of the group above): to put back on the scene the relationship between a family and its "respectable public" and, in consequence, more than actually the presentation itself, to highlight the state of mind that according to this research, permeates these anonymous ones both the moment that precedes the start of the presentation and after it.
